A week in the Life…………..

Hello my name is Shanion Thurman, I am excited because I am about to
embark on a journey that I have never attempted before.  After 15
years of yo-yo dieting and eating whatever my heart desires, I have
decided that enough is enough.  I sent in a response to the Today’s
Woman call for Today's Woman fitness story.  I was pleasantly
surprised to be selected but I am grateful for the opportunity.  One
thing I am learning is to let down my defenses and break the whole diet
mentality.  I am doing this for my health and wellness.  It has always
been a battle but now I understand the beast.

Monday

First, we met at Sandy Pike’s Home Cuisine.  I was a little worried
because I did not know what to expect and I thought I would be or feel
out of place.  Everybody was so warm and open and I love how
someone said “Oh we are not fat, we are fluffy”.  That was great.  I
hated taking the before picture, I thought I was going to faint because I
was holding in my stomach trying to make a good showing (after all
Today’s Woman is distributed in a lot of places) for the magazine.  I
had a great experience with my fellow cadres and Sandy Pike explain
everything in detail regarding the food and the amount of calories per
day.

Tuesday

Today is my first food pick up and I am a little anxious 1200 CALORIES
oh my gosh I am going to starve to death.  Well to my chagrin I was
pleasantly surprised the food looked wonderful I can’t wait to start this
process.

Wednesday

Today is the first day for the new eating habits.  All during this process I
have been great I started walking and I don’t drink soft drinks or eat
candy.  I am trying to figure out the little voice that was inside my head
telling me to stop on my way to work to get a candy bar and soda.  I am
not listening to this little demon I proceeded to work and enjoyed my
organic deviled eggs, english muffin and fruit salad.  I must say I am full
and looking forward to lunch.  Lunch was fantastic and dinner was
awesome.

Thursday

I have fallen in love with the food that Sandy Pike has prepared.  I am
wondering if I am discussing this to much.  It seems that I have a food
obsession but really I don’t it just a new way of living.  I never knew that
I could eat 1200 calories and day and be satisfied.  I am considering
getting a second job just so that I can pay for Sandy to prepare my
food FOREVER! J

Friday

Today I met my personal trainer Sharron McAdams, owner/personal
trainer of FITLife.  I was apprehensive about going to this club because
I thought everyone in there is going to be skinny minnies.  But to my
surprise it was not like that at all.  Sharron was very accommodating
and she explains everything to me like it has never been explained
before.  I can honestly say no one has taken the time out to do a
battery of test and get a health history and understand me and how I
feel about me.  She really listened and offers me encouragement and
support.  I felt very comfortable in this setting the yellow walls and
cheery atmosphere helped me in the process of experiencing this
exercise thing on a different level.

I start the actual workout portion on Tuesday, so we will see how that
goes . . . . .
