NAME: Lisa Garcia Reger

Age: 39
Partner at Lorch & Naville, LLC, Attorneys specializing in family law.
“Right now, I’m an equal partner, I can’t really move up, but I do what I can to put
myself out there… In my mediation practice, many of my clients are attorneys, so I try
to do a good job in court, know the law, and be respectful to other attorneys and their
clients.”

She starts her day:“In the morning it’s a zoo!” So she sets out clothes for her two
children, aged 6 and 10, the night before. Gets up at 6 a.m., feeds the kids a quick
breakfast, and is out the door by 7:10. “There is very little forethought for what I’m
going to wear.”

She is most crazy:“At the end of the day when I’m picking up the kids and getting
ready for soccer, and my husband’s going one way, and I’m heading off the other way
— trying to figure out which kid goes where.”

Treat she gives herself at work: “I eat chocolate once a day at noon and work right
through lunch so I can get home earlier for the kids. Twix is my favorite.”

Tools empower her: A Palm Treo smart phone enables Lisa to email clients from
soccer practice. After the kids go to bed, her laptop connects to her computer at the
office, so she can work on files from home. The tools “have made my life so efficient.”

The company empowers her:Once a year, the law firm allows one attorney to choose
a charity for a lump sum donation. In 2007, Lisa chose “Supporting Heroes,” a non-
profit organization based out of Louisville that provides support to families of police,
fire, and EMS personnel killed in the line of duty.

Also, in 2007, Lisa was able to take a five-week sabbatical. “I had a brief glimpse of
what it’s like to be a stay-at-home mom. I found out that I’m a better mother, a more
patient and kind mother when I miss my children more. All jokes aside, I really did
enjoy it, but it’s a tough job.”
