She’s Bicycling Across the U.S.
What has possessed Louisvillian Katherine Schwager to ride her bicycle 3,500 miles
through 25 cities? When we last talked to her she was on the second day and the second
hundred miles riding through the mountains. (She was one of only three from the group of
eight who could ride those mountains! Let me point out that she is the only woman — I
love how she is representing the toughness of women!)
Her goal is not just to prove she is in shape (I’m a believer!) but to reach out to teenagers
and make a big difference in their lives. LifeClimb, the organization that initiated this trip,
has a mission to give teens the tools they need to navigate life, by helping them make
good decisions and create their future. During the route from Costa Mesa, Calif., to
Boston, Mass., the bicyclers will speak to about 20,000 middle school and high school
students and give away free copies of The Rhythm of Life: Living Everyday with Passion &
Purpose.
Near the beginning of October, Katherine and her team will be in the Indianapolis area as
they ride on to the Atlantic Ocean (they plan to reach it by the end of October).
If you would like to support Katherine and her mission, you can pay to ride along with her
when she is in the area or make a donation through the website www.lifeclimb.org. The
website also gives updates on progress and specifics about the program.
