Francene Cucinello, radio talk show host, 84WHAS,
                                    weekdays 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Contributing columnist for the Voice Tribune and Lexington
Herald-Leader newspapers and part-time news reporter for WXIX-TV in Cincinnati.
Who she is: I’d like to think I am a citizen of the world. I’m a wannabe media darling,
and I’m a woman who is trying to figure life out, and maybe, one day, I’ll learn not to
take it so seriously.

Her show is: News and life and lively conversation. We talk about terrorism and
sports figures flipping off fans. We have even talked about a guy I broke up with
because he didn’t wash his hands after using the bathroom.
Prep time for the show: An hour or more for every hour of show and that is just that
morning. I get 150-200 emails a day.

Gift she would like to receive: My true love.

In the biz: I have worked in entertainment since I was 14. I have done theatre, voice-
overs, TV news, and writing. During the Clinton administration I was a reporter for a
national news bureau covering the White House and Congress. I like investigating,
finding and reporting, digging.

Jump starts her day: I don’t drink coffee. I have oatmeal with peanut butter. Cook
regular oatmeal for about a minute, stir in a hunk of peanut butter and I have a
breakfast of protein and fiber that lasts me until after the show.

Fascinates her about the world: Its residents.

Her gift to the world: The legacy God intended for me but I’m not sure what that is
yet.

Breaks her heart: People who are so close to happiness or success or triumph but
they don’t realize that potential because they are afraid or not willing to work hard
enough. I see it all the time.

Heroes: Wonder Woman, Helen Gurley Brown, Barbara Walters.

Pet peeve: People who don’t wave when you let them in traffic.

Naps: I love them. I can fall asleep just like that (snaps her fingers).

Chore she hates: Anything to do with the yard.

Doing in 1992: I had just moved to Annapolis and owned a special events company
called Second Set of Hands.

Movies: I love movies, especially romantic comedies. They take me away and let me
have fun.

Current book: When God Winks by SQuire Rushnell.

Bookshelf: I read non-fiction only. I like biographies of business people. The only
fiction I have read are the John Grisham lawyer books.

Car: Silver 2008 Saturn ION.

Motto: Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the ability to act even though there is
fear.

Organization tool: Purse calendar.

Favorite time of the day: Whenever I am having fun.

Art and artist: Impressionism and Monet.

Ethnic food: Indian.

Gourmet treats: Pizza: I miss New York-style pizza that you fold over and eat, but the
Old Hickory Inn in Germantown has good pizza.

Ice cream: All kinds but I do like Graeter’s Black Raspberry Chip.

Chocolate: Belgian chocolate because they use more cocoa butter. But I will eat a
Hershey bar.

Shops for clothes: Everywhere. I bought this great Liz Clairborne skirt for 99 cents
(stands up to model it) at a Goodwill Store. I shop at Lord & Taylor, Macy’s, Filene’s
basement…

Collects: Friends.

Most proud of: The fact that I’ve been able to make a living in a highly competitive
profession.

Home décor: I don’t like clutter. I am a minimalist. I like color, art and sculpture. My
style isn’t called anything, but it is definitive. I have original oils only. And four face
‘masks’ of Michelangelo’s David that I collected over years of going to Renaissance
fairs.

Last movie that made her cry: The Lake House. I have seen it six times and I cry
every time.

If caught relaxing she would… Be on the couch watching a movie.

Favorite area of Louisville: Downtown.

Retirement plans: Ideally in ten years. This means I will have saved enough money
for real retirement, and I can take any job I want. I can work in a cheese shop slicing
cheese or work in a florist shop in Paris.

Gets her on her soapbox: Stupidity and injustice.

If not in Louisville, would live: On the water. The ocean — Myrtle Beach or
Chesapeake Bay.

Most people don’t know: That I am lazy. And, I have what artists call perfect facial
proportions.

The distance between the outside corners of my eyes is the same distance as from
the top of my forehead to the tip of my nose.

Best advice from her dad: It is a quote from the economist Adam Smith: “Every
adversity carries with it a seed of equal or greater benefit.”

New mantra: “Never confuse having a career with having a life.” I saw this plaque in
Julie Scoskie’s office, (director of JCPS Adult and Continuing Education),
commented that I loved it, and she took it off the wall and gave it to me.

Secret passion: Baroque music.

With 15 free minutes: I would call my mom.

Astrological sign: Libra. I am always searching for balance and never finding it.
Can’t get the knack of… My DVD recorder. I have had it for two years and still can’t
record.

Latest project: Working on my Italian for a December trip to Rome with my mom.
(By the way, her dog, Monty, responds to commands in Italian.)
Best idea: I went ahead, took a deep breath and made a new investment with hopes
that it will build wealth.

Paris or London? Paris. I love the Eiffel Tower.

China pattern: (Huge laugh.) I have blue glass plates that I got free from Best Buy
when I bought some appliances. I have had them for years.

Color she would never wear: Beige.

Wishes she could stop: Being attracted to bad men.

Wears when in a Grace Kelly mood: White gloves and pearls.

Perfect Sunday: When I don’t have to work.
