Debbie Simpson, an employee
at Sears in Oxmoor Center,
didn’t have any problem
trading in her long locks for a
trendier style.

The Solution: Lyndsay Gahafer,
master stylist for Blades Inc.
lopped off seven inches while
adding layers and texture
inside Debbie’s hair for
movement. Master stylist Nicki Strope changed her warm, yellowy blonde color to a dark
blonde with ashier tones and highlights. “We wanted to keep the hair as a soft natural-
looking color,” says Strope. For Debbie’s face, Callie Ivester, hair stylist and makeup
artist, evened out her red tones using a neutral foundation. Then she filled in her
eyebrows to bring more attention to the face and eyes. Callie applied soft smoky
eyeliner to the bottom lash liner, used green and gold eye shadows and finished her
look with a neutral lip color.after“When my husband saw
me, he cried.”

Styling Tip: For women who have hair that is dense
yet fine, Strope says layering is the best technique
for adding shape and definition. To maintain the hair
in between visits, she suggests using root-lifting,
volumnizing products, velcro rollers and
roundbrushing.
