Achieving flawless beauty on your wedding day doesn’t
have to be a struggle if you get a head start. Several local
salons offer pre-planning services to their clients to help
them find the best look.
Your Makeup
Cindy Chestnut, of Dazzle Salon & Spa (2911 S.
Hurstbourne Parkway, 502-491-8803), says they request
that their clients visit a week in advance. The goal, says Cindy,
is for the cosmetologist to strike a balance between what the client likes and what
looks best. (Cost: $20/ practice run-through; $45/day of wedding).
Holly Oyler, of Holly Cosmetics (4836 Brownsboro Center, 502-721-0396), says eye
shadow should match the person’s eye color, blush should be one to two shades
darker than the skin tone and lip color should be one to two shades darker or lighter
than your natural lip color.
Your Hair
Should you wear it up or down? Salons such as Headz Inc. (8002 New Lagrange Road
502-423-1343) help you answer that question. Lynn Williamson, co-owner of Headz
Inc., says her stylists consider the neckline of the wedding dress, time of ceremony,
and headpiece when determining how to style the hair. (Cost: $45/practice run-
through; $50 day of wedding; $150/off-site visits).Newlywed Emily Livers Hickerson
(pictured here) is wearing a color palette versatile enough for a wedding or bridal
shower.
For a romantic, ethereal look, Holly Oyler used eye shadows in Champagne, Taupe
and Charmeuse, ($12) and Sheer Radiance Finishing Powder ($30).Emily is wearing:
Soundgirl “Cake Batter” Resort dress, $64; Restricted blue “Root Beer” shoes, $54;
necklace, $38; earrings, $16, bangles, $12. All items available at Dot Fox, 1567
Bardstown Road, (502) 452-9191. Flowers by Lavender Hill.
