Make a vow to look your best.
Whether you are the blushing bride-to-be
or the loyal friend, you want to look great
on the big day. Photos taken at
The Admiral Bicknell Inn
Bridesmaid Beauties
LAUREN DANIELS-MONTGOMERY
and TERA SARTINI, Co-owners/managers,
The Couture Closet
Their Services: “We carry wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses,
Mother-of-the-bride, prom, veils, jewelry, headpieces, handbags,
shoes, guest books, and garters.”
Tips for Choosing the Right Gown: “Brides should choose the gown
that makes them feel beautiful. If the bride leaves her appointment and
can’t stop thinking about a dress, then that’s the gown for her.”
Popular Styles: “For spring, the dresses tend to be a lighter fabric like an organza or
chiffon. Strapless is always in style, but this season we are seeing more straps and
halters.”
Doesn’t She Look Beautiful?
MICHELLE R. BACHELOR, General Education Assessment
Coordinator and Doctoral Scholar, University of Louisville
(also a Bride-to-Be)
Her Wedding Date: September 1.
How She’s Preparing: “I hired Sharon (Bell) to coordinate
the wedding and was able to visit various venues through
the Bridal Hop. We have decided to have the wedding and
reception at the Speed Art Museum.”
How She Relaxes: “I don’t. I am a full-time student working
on a PhD, and I have children so I don’t do a whole lot of
relaxing.”
Most Enjoyable Part: “I enjoyed the Bridal Hop. It was a
six-week program and each Sunday we would visit at least
five or six locations. They would try to mimic what a real
ceremony would look like.”
SHARON BELL, President, Memorable Celebrations
Her Services: Specializes in wedding planning and
entertainment.
Tips for Planning a Wedding: “Plan ahead…
try to relax on the wedding day and hire a wedding planner.”
How to choose the best venue for the wedding reception:
“Get a location which will reflect your personality while staying on budget.”
The one thing every bride should have: “At the reception, the bride should have some
comfortable shoes that are cute.”
Here Comes the Bride
EMILY LIVERS HICKERSON, Bride, Sales specialist, GE
Wedding Date: June 2.
How She’s Preparing: “I make a list of all the important things that need to be done and
that’s how I have stayed on top of everything throughout the whole process — and it’s
a process!”
How She Relaxes: “I haven’t been able to do much of that for the past six months, but I
like to just spend time with friends or a quiet night with Greg watching a movie.”
Most Enjoyable Part:
“Picking out the dress!”
Now We Can Relax…or Can We?
KATHY BOLGER, Mother of the Groom, DESIGNER,
TODAY’S WOMAN
Her Life Lesson: “Be observant and helpful without getting
in the way. Allowing the newlyweds to learn to work together…
to make their own decisions on their wedding day and
beyond.”
How She’s Preparing: “Designing and printing the invitations,
shopping for my outfit, planning the trip to Florida (it’s a
destination wedding on the beach). Helping set up and
decorate the reception hall.”
Where She Has Shopped For Clothes: “Von Maur and
Glasscock.”
TERI HICKERSON, MOTHER OF THE GROOM,
Account Executive, Today’s Woman
Her Life Lesson: “Be cooperative and help out any way I can
without being obtrusive.”
How She’s Preparing: “Planning the rehearsal dinner and helping with the shower.”
Where She Has Shopped For Clothes: “Von Maur, Dillard’s, Macy’s, Chadwicks
(online).”
