Something's Good at the Market...

Urban Fresh, a group of youth pushing for
social change, will be operating the
California Farmers Market — the newest
farmers market located in Victory Park.
The organization is collaborating with small
family farmers in Kentucky and a new food
distribution business, Grasshoppers LLC,
to provide quality food for underserved communities.
Taleia Cooley of Urban Fresh says she became interested in the project after
learning about the area’s food shortage from boyfriend and fellow member Sayeed
Asante. “I didn’t know there was only one grocery store to 20,000 in West
Louisville... it pushed me to learn more.” She adds, “Wherever there is a need is
where I like to be.”
