Established: 1976 locally
Mission/Description: “To achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy,
education and information.”
Recent projects: The group has a mentoring partnership with Maryhurst, and also it
participates in leadership training and development modules such as the “Individual
Development Program” and the “Young Careerist Program” to help women ages 21-35
with speech preparation. It includes a speech competition at local, regional, state and
national levels.

National Association of Women Business Owners, Louisville Chapter
Established: 1992 locally
Mission/Description: “NAWBO Louisville provides support, resources and opportunities to
propel women entrepreneurs into economic, social and political spheres of power
worldwide. It is about women helping women, forming partnerships and learning from
each other.”
Recent projects: Past and upcoming events include a Business Resource Fair, Women 4
Women annual luncheon, roundtables with political candidates and speakers at monthly
meetings.

National Council of Jewish Women, Louisville Section
Established: 1895 locally
Mission/Description: “The National Council of Jewish Women is a volunteer organization
that has been at the forefront of social change for over a century. Inspired by Jewish
values, NCJW courageously takes a progressive stance on issues such as child welfare,
women’s rights, and reproductive freedom.”
Recent projects: The group takes an active role in legislative affairs and on issues that
affect women’s lives, such as domestic violence. A past project includes Women Helping
Women, a program that helped women acquire suitable work attire.

Established: 1982 locally
Mission/Description: To lead, develop, and advocate for women of African descent, as
they support their families and communities.”
Recent projects: The group makes an impact with public policy and resource alliances
and speakers’ forums that help women learn more about finances, growing their
business, health and wellness and more.
